The brief
Under our own flag Tangent have launched an art sales business and ecommmerce website to sell the work of UK based artists. We intend to sell original art, paintings, prints, sculpture, photography and art dolls. The brand name BritArt Sales was chosen because all our artists are UK based and there is a trend at present towards buying British, staycations and all things #british #brit #britart.
Solution
With the aim of keeping operations as simple as possible we set up a PayPal account and a WordPress based Woocommerce ecommmerce website. Encouragingly we have been very successful in persuading some very well respected artists to come on board with us.
Schedule
Work began on 6th March 2019 and the website was launched on 29th July 2020.
Branding development evaluation
Generally our various audiences—artists, collaborators and buyers—understand the brand messages. This is illustrated by the fact that artists are already approaching us to be listed on our site.
Website development evaluation
It is too early yet to judge if the site will be a success and pays for itself. In terms of function it is built on a tried and tested platform and has been rigorously tested for user friendliness. What will take time is building an online and social media presence in a highly competitive arena.
